Christine Force, Licensing Associate/Small Business Development Specialist, Michigan State University  

Christine Force is the small business development specialist in the Office of Intellectual Property at Michigan State University. Her responsibilities include providing commercialization resources to new and existing MSU technology-based businesses.

Prior to joining MSU in 2000, Chris was an economic/community development specialist for the State of Michigan for over 18 years. Her last assignment for MEDC was as the business services account manager to the high technology business community in Washtenaw County. Her work as an account manager led to changes in state policy to provide greater business incentives to high tech companies.

She is also certified as an Economic Development Finance Professional by the National Development Council in Washington, D.C. and has been recognized by “Who’s Who of American Women” and the “International Who’s Who of Professional and Business Women”.

Her undergraduate degree is from the University of Massachusetts. She has a Certificate of Cartography from Michigan State University and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Apparel and Textiles also at MSU.

In 1992 she started her own company and wrote, edited, and published The Preservation Directory. Ms. Force is currently a member of the Association of University Technology Managers.
